Siltex - Tuesday 6th February 2018

On Tuesday 6th of Feb the bailiff team will be at the Rosie Pool for the morning applying Siltex to the lake.  The Siltex is a type of Chalk the we apply to the water at the beginning of each year.  Siltex is used as a natural alternative to dredging the silt from the lake bed, it is far less intrusive and does not harm the fish, animals or water quality.  The Siltex will, over time, break down the silt within the pool whilst also lowering acidity levels and providing essential Calcium to the plant and animal life at the Rosie.

The Ranger team will assist us by transporting both the Siltex and the club's boat to the lake.  The bailiffs will then empty bags of the Siltex over the side of the boat, all over the lake, running the boats propeller through it as we go.  This ensures the Siltex clouds up and disperses properly across the lake and does not sit in small piles on the lake bed.

Any members who wish to come along and see what goes on, lend a hand, or ask any questions are more than welcome.  Also don't forget AE Fisheries will be at the Rosie on the 25th January to net the fish and remove any small fish (under 3") in order to reduce the biomass of the pool and allow the rest of the fish to grow to their full potential.

We look forward to seeing you on the bank.  Here are some pictures of last years Chalking to give you an idea of what goes on.

Match Weight Chart - January 2018

For anybody interested here is our match results from the Rosie pool over the last few years. Club treasurer James has kept a record of the weights so we can monitor how well the Rosie is fishing and get an idea of the size of fish coming out.  It is also useful as we can see where the fish feed best at different times of the year. The weights highlighted in red are the ones that placed with any weight with a * next to it being the winner. DNW means the angler did not weigh in.

Just a reminder that the club will be netting the Rosie on the morning of the 25th of January 2018.  Any members are more than welcome to come along and help out or just see what fish are caught in the nets.

Night Syndicate - January 1st 2018

Club bailiff James Watson spent the night at the Rosie on Monday 1st January 2018 targeting Carp.  He had six fish throughout the night and lost another. The biggest fish was a very nice mirror weighing well into double figures.  A very good night for this time of year.

Senior members can purchase a Night Syndicate permit in addition to the normal year permit from Deeside Tackle Shop.  It only costs an extra £10 and as James's results last night show, some great fishing is to be had.

Happy New Year - 1st January 2018

The club would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. We would also like to announce that the Warren Pool is now back open. Currently the lake only has Carp in it, the big Bream and Perch will be back in the lake in the next month or so. Please don't forget to book on the lake prior to fishing by calling Deeside Tackle on 01244 813674 and telling Colin your membership card number.

2018 memberships are now also due. These are available at Deeside Fishing Tackle. Day tickets are also available both at the tackle shop and the food counter at the visitor centre. Please remember to attach a passport sized photograph to the front of your membership card too.

Thank you and all the best for 2018.

Match Results - 27 December 2017

Here are the results of the match held at the Rosie earlier today.  Some good weights in the cold weather and the stockies are really putting the weight on.  The match was won from peg 1 with 56lb of fish, second place weighed in at 30lb 12oz from peg 29 and third place 14lb 11oz from peg 4.

Rosie Netting - Thursday 25th January 2018

On the 25th of January Andrew Ellis from AE Fisheries will be at the Rosie.  He will be netting the fish, grading them and removing any smaller fish that are taking up valuable room in the lake.  This will ensure that, along with the feed plan, the fish in the lake will stay in tip top condition and continue to pile on the pounds.

The netting will start first thing in the morning, around 7am.  Any anglers who wish to attend and/or lend a hand are more than welcome.  Even if you cannot get involved you will get to see exactly what fish are in the lake and how well they have been growing over the last 12 months.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Assisting the Ranger team

On Wednesday 20th December 2018, the club Bailiffs assisted the Rangers in clearing the brook of fallen trees. It was an enjoyable morning and we all enjoyed getting involved in other parts of the park. In the near future we will also be walking the full length of the brook, clearing away any litter that is only accessible from the water.
