About the club.

Connahs Quay & district Angling Club has been around since 1967.  We have two waters along with some fishing rights for Bala lake.  Our two main waters are The Rosie Pool in Wepre Park- Connahs Quay and The Old Warren Pool in Broughton.

The Rosie Pool is a great mixed lake that can be fished by both members and day ticket anglers. The lake is just over an acre in size and has depths ranging from 3-7 feet.  The lake has a real mixed bag of fish. These include Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Ide, Eels and a big head of stunning, pure Crucian Carp which go to well over 2lb. The biggest fish in the lake are around the 14-15lb mark but are growing quickly. Fishing is from dawn until dusk unless a night syndicate has been purchased.

The Old Warren is now being developed into our specimen water. during the summer 2017 the lake UNFORTUNATELY suffered a large fish kill which resulted in around 40 carp to around 23lb dying. It now contains carp to just over 15lbs. the carp have only recently been put back in the lake after the work detailed below. prior to this they have been held in pools without food for 3 months so we expect them to pile the weight on quickly now they are back in the lake and very hungry. we are also restocking some large bream and perch back into the lake in early 2018.

The lake has recently had a complete face lift which involved draining the lake, removing the fish and digging out a massive amount of silt. The lake currently has a relativity low stock of fish which we will be looking at adding to over the next few years. It can be a hard water but the rewards are there for those who put the effort in. The Warren can only be fished by members of the club and not day ticket anglers. All junior members must be ACCOMPANIED by a senior member.  To fish the lake members will also need to book on by contacting Deeside Tackle Shop on 01244 813674, this is due to a limit of 8 anglers being allowed to fish each day. There is currently no night fishing at the Warren.

The club is for anglers from all disciplines from general pleasure fishing, match fishing and carp fishing. Both CQAC and other clubs have matches at The Rosie throughout the year. We also put on 'Start Early, Fish for Life' sessions.  This is where juniors from 6-16 can come to the lake on set dates during the summer and learn to fish or just brush up on their skills.
